Engaged :)
It has been over a year since I last wrote on my blog. I guess sometimes it is harder to be inspired to write something. I really should be writing about my job teaching Kindergarten and all the fun things I have been up to.
Things have been really good for the most part.
I was in a musical last Spring called Stars on Broadway with Woodbury Community Theater and was recently voted onto their Board of Directors.
I love teaching Kindergarten. I miss my kids from last year - I wonder if that special connection to your first class ever goes away.
The best thing that has happened in the year or so that I haven't posted is that Kyle and I got engaged.
Before our camping trip this summer, Kyle kept saying that this was going to be our best camping trip ever. And, trying to be realistic, I kept telling him - "who knows, we don't know what the weather will be like, we don't know what the park will be like." We had decided to try a new park called Savanna Portage State Park and it ended up being an amazing place. We had a fabulous camp site and enjoyed walking the trails.
Here's the story of our engagement:
It was August 7th. We had arrived and set up camp the night before. Kyle really wanted to go geocaching and I was excited to go out again, too! He had gotten the geocaching information all ready before hand. What I didn't know was that he hadn't gotten geocaching information from the park. No, he (with the help of his friend Greg) had come up to the park two weeks in advance to set up his own geocache. It was a perfect walk - right by the lake. He had disguised it so well - I couldn't tell that it was not a park created geocache. We walked and found the different coordinates and I asked to take a pit stop to go see the bog walk. We spent a long time there taking pictures and reading about the different plants. Then, we moved on to our last geocache coordinate. It took us off the trail and down to a clearing right by the lake. We found the cache and it had the decoder to find out what the secret message was. We had to match the numbers to the letters. As he read me the letters I started to get suspicious as I wrote down "I LO..." I told him that couldn't be right. He told me to keep going. Eventually, the message "I LOVE YOU" was written. He had me stand up and told me how special I was, how much he loved me, how he wanted to go through life's journey with me. And then - he pulled out this amazing ring. It was a beautiful day - loons were calling, butterflies were around. It was the perfect proposal. And, nothing could mean more to me than all the work he put into planning it all out.
Later I found out my parents had known since April - when he had gone to ask for permission.
Wow.
I am a LUCKY woman.
July 12, 2014 - here we come! :)
On the sadder side, my last good memory of Grandma before her passing on September 1st is of me telling her of our engagement. She was so happy and proud of me. I miss her dearly and so wish she could have been there for our wedding. She'll be there is spirit, but it just isn't the same.
You can surely tell I haven't been doing a lot of writing - hopefully the version I write for our wedding website turns out better than this.
