Update on Dad

On Wednesday, my dad got an MRI done for the pain in his back and tingling and decreased movement in his limbs.  On Thursday we found out he had a tumor on his spine. It was located in the cervical vertebrae between C2 and C5 and was attached to the spinal cord lining.  It was about 2.8 cm long and 1.5 wide.  The doctors said it could have been growing for years - but that it can take a while to finally hit that point where you feel it.  And, when it finally does the degeneration happens quickly.  We really saw that with Dad.

On Saturday morning, Dad had surgery to remove the tumor.  It was found to be benign and they were able to remove the entire tumor.  He is in great spirits and said that he can already feel the relief of not having the tumor pressing on the nerves.  He can grip better and even did a scratch off last night with a nickel.  This is amazing considering he couldn't even hold a pen to write his name a few hours before that.

I am very appreciative of all the prayers that have been going out.  He's going to be able to walk today - and if all goes well he'll be home next Tuesday.  :) :)
